Furniture and wheels...

Hi all!

Our furniture is being delivered next week on November 15th, so we are very excited about it. It will be great to have a couch and a place to conregate and socialize when we have guests and friends here. The only pieces of furniture that will not arrive next week are our dining room chairs. We special ordered those and selected a custom fabric and wood finish, so we won't see them until January. The chairs are bench made to order, so that's why the production time is longer. For Thanksiving we'll be using some borrowed wooden folding chairs, so we aren't worried about seating for then!

Ethan also bought a second car yesterday. He has been searching for a very specific car for the past two months. Since we had plenty of time to be choosy, there was no rush on finding one. He found an extremely clean 1990 Honda Civic hatchback in silver, which is extremely rare to find. The only drawback is that it is an automatic, but Ethan will just do an automatic to manual conversion on it eventually. He enjoys car projects, so this will just be another fun one for him to do! I really like the second car, even though I don't drive it. I think it's very cool looking...and I'm also glad I don't have to wake up at 6 AM to take him to work anymore. He usually rode his bike or walked, but with the weather being as cold as it is, driving was somstimes just the better option!

I am enjoying a 4 day weekend this week... I worked this morning for a grand total of 1 hour and then went home. I do not work on Monday either, since the boys' old nanny is in town visiting. That's a long story of and in itself, and I won't bore everyone with the details. But her being in town has resulted in a day off for me... and Ethan took the day off as well. We will be sleeping in that morning and then going to do something fun and spontaneous. No clue what it will be...that's why it will be "fun and spontaneous". :)

I'm going to get going... I am meeting Susan and John (former boss and charge, respectively) at the movie theatre. I make a big effort to maintain my relationships with the kids I have worked with, and from time to time I take John and Shannon (his older sister) out on separate fun nights. Tonight, John and I are going to see "Bee Movie" and having dinner together. It will be great to hang out with John and hear about his life and what he's been up to. All of my kids are comfortable talking to me about things that they aren't necessarily willing to open up to their parents about...so I think that their parents appreciate me as a resource for their kids to go to, even after I'm no longer in their employ. I just can't understand how any nanny could leave a family and never speak to them again. It's heartless, and they probably shouldn't be working in a profession dealing with children. ::steps off soapbox::

Well, that's just my update for now... more later! Love to all!

Happy November!

Time really flies! I still can't believe it's November. As is typical in Atlanta, some days are cold and some days are in the high 70's. It's anybody's guess what the weather will be like from day to day.

We are both doing well - Ethan had his second accounting midterm and scored an A on it! He worked hard for that A, and as his biggest cheerleader, I am very proud of him! We went to Rosemary Beach, Florida with my employers over my birthday weekend and had such a great time. My employers went out of their way to make my birthday special and presented me with a beautiful gemstone necklace and suprised me later with an ice cream cake complete with everyone singing "Happy Birthday". Rosemary Beach was breathtaking, and we had a wonderful time. We were able to go out to eat for crab legs (yum!) and shrimp for my birthday. I'm definitely looking forward to returning to the beach in April for the boys' spring break! The next trip that is coming up for work for me is to Beaver Creek, CO from December 15-26th. Ethan has decided not to go, and will stay in Atlanta and work while I enjoy a White Christmas and hit the slopes! My employers are Jewish, so Christmas will not be celebrated while we are gone. I don't mind at all, and Ethan and I will have our own belated Christmas Day when I return on the 26th. For those of you who know how much I love to ski, you have some idea of how excited I am to be able to spend almost two weeks out West!

My parents are coming to visit for Thanksgiving, and Ethan's parents are visiting the following weekend. It will be the first time they see the loft. So... sorry to disappoint faithful readers of this blog, but there will not be any photos posted of our abode until after their visit. We'd like for them to be suprised when they see it and not have any idea what it looks like. Since they read this, that's just what will have to be done! We are greatly looking forward to seeing our parents and being able to relax and spend time together in our home. We're keeping our fingers crossed that our furniture will be here by then!

Hope everyone is well!
